The Rockford School Board has unanimously approved an innovative plan with Rockford University to recruit teachers and build a workforce grown from its own student body.

Rockford University’s 162nd Commencement Ceremony will be held on Sunday, May 15, at 2:00 p.m., at the Coronado Performing Arts Center in downtown Rockford.

Jennifer Caterina is the Rock Solid Regent for the week of April 17. She is a sophomore math and theater major from Huntingdon, Tennessee. She was nominated by Dr. Mehmet Dik and Dr. Filiz Dik.

A town hall meeting addressing the birth defects, diseases, and learning disabilities affecting the children and grandchildren of our nation’s veterans will be held on Saturday, April 23.

RU will host a Junior Preview Day on Friday, April 22.

Assistant Professor of Biology Sean Beckmann, Ph.D. will present the ‘Last Lecture’ on April 25, 3 p.m. in Fisher Memorial Chapel, 5050 E. State St., Rockford. The lecture is part of the spring Forum series at the University. This opportunity will give Professor Beckmann a chance to reflect on life as if this was going to be his last message before passing.

Aaron Pearson, from Belvidere, Illinois is the Rock Solid Regent for the week of April 11. Aaron is a senior in the Bachelor of Science in Management Studies (BSMS) program and was nominated by Donna Harvey, Director for the BSMS Program.

The Rockford University baseball program has announced that it will hold its annual fundraiser on Sunday, April 24 when the Regents host the University of Chicago Maroons at Rivets Stadium in Loves Park, Illinois.

Professor Gahan will be presenting the third lecture in a lunch & learn series focusing on Shakespeare’s Sonnets.
