Rockford University, in conjunction with Korea Economic Institute of America and Rockford Area Economic Development Council presents an exciting and informative panel of speakers discussing economic, social, and political challenges in Russia, Korea, Japan and China and the impact on America.

The ensemble of accomplished Arab and Jewish youth artists (ages 18-24) will perform a free community concert hosted and sponsored by Rockford University on Saturday, March 14 at 7 pm.

The Rockford University Athletic Department is pleased to announce the hiring of Andrew Weber ’10/’12, as its next head men’s basketball coach.

‘Body Image Form’ will open March 3 at the Rockford University Art Gallery. The exhibit features work by artists John Fraser, Rebecca Reeves, Diane Simpson, and Anne Wilson that are on loan from the Rockford Art Museum and private vendors. ‘Body Image Form’ explores concepts of the human condition and of the body in potent works of art that delve into form and image, and resonate with material meaning.

Rockford University will celebrate the 168th year of the signing of its charter Wednesday, March 4, 2015, at 4 p.m., during the Charter Day Convocation. Professor Emeritus Lou Ferroli, Ph.D., will give the keynote address with a speech entitled, “Tales of Honor.” Dr. Ferroli was a professor of education at Rockford University for 23 years before his retirement in 2013.

The Rockford University Performing Arts Department will debut “Dogfight”, its first show of the spring semester, on Thursday, February 26. The musical is based on Bob Comfort’s screenplay for the 1991 movie by Nancy Savoca, with music and lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul and book by Peter Duchan.

President Robert L. Head, Ph.D., has announced he will retire June 30, 2016, the date his current contract concludes. Dr. Head joined the University in June 2008 and serves as the institution’s 17th president.

Rockford University’s Northern Illinois Center for Nonprofit Excellence (NICNE) is offering a Fund Development Certificate Program beginning this spring. The program will provide individuals with an understanding of fundraising basics and how to make fund development into a career. There are five courses included in the program.

Award winning photographer and filmmaker, Nathan Dappen, Ph.D. will speak February 12 as part of the university’s spring forum series. Dr. Dappen’s images, films, books and other projects have been featured internationally, including in National Geographic, Vogue, The Washington Post, Scientific American, The World Wildlife Fund and more.
