Job Description

The Department of Nursing at Rockford University invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track nursing faculty position at the Lecturer rank. Primary responsibilities will be teaching in the undergraduate classroom, simulation lab and/or clinical setting.

The successful candidate will be required to teach 15 workload credits in the fall and spring semesters and will be eligible for benefits and continuing education activities.

Required qualifications:

  • Registered nurse license in the state of Illinois, or eligible to obtain an Illinois registered nurse license by the start of the fall semester
  • Master’s degree in nursing
  • At least two years of experience providing direct patient care

Preferred qualifications:

  • Preference will be given to candidates with medical-surgical or pediatrics experience
  • Teaching experience
  • Doctoral degree preferred but not required

Setting

Rockford University is a small private institution with a curriculum grounded in the liberal arts and complemented by professional and practical experience. The university campus is located in a park-like setting that is nestled into a small urban environment that supports three robust medical centers (OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center, Swedish American Medical Center and Javon Bea Hospital- Rockton and Riverside Campus) as well as numerous healthcare agencies and community resources. The Department of Nursing is part of the College of Science, Math and Nursing.
