The Department of Nursing at Rockford University invites applications for full-time, tenure track nursing faculty positions starting in August 2024. Primary responsibilities will be teaching in the undergraduate classroom, simulation lab, and/or clinical setting.

The successful candidate will be required to teach 12 workload credits in the fall and spring semesters and will be eligible for benefits and continuing education activities.

Required qualifications:

• Registered nurse license in the state of Illinois, or eligible to obtain an Illinois registered nurse license by the start of the fall semester
• Master’s degree or higher in nursing
• At least two years of experience providing direct patient care

Preferred qualifications:

• Teaching experience
• Doctoral degree preferred but not required
• Various backgrounds in nursing are welcomed to apply. Experience in mental health or medical-surgical nursing are preferred.

Setting

Rockford University is a small private institution with a curriculum grounded in the liberal arts and complemented by professional and practical experience. The university campus is located in a park-like setting that is nestled into a small urban environment that supports three robust medical centers (OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center, Swedish American Medical Center and Javon Bea Hospital- Rockton and Riverside Campus) as well as numerous healthcare agencies and community resources. The Department of Nursing is part of the College of Science, Math and Nursing.
