Assistant or Associate Professor of Economics, Visiting

Rockford University is seeking qualified candidates for a Visiting Assistant or Associate Professor of Economics in the PURI School of Business at Rockford University.  The department includes traditional undergraduate day, evening and weekend adult accelerated degree-completion in a hybrid format, and an evening/weekend MBA program. The Business program combines a liberal arts orientation with a professional approach. This position is a replacement for a retiring professor in economics. This faculty member will teach the required supporting courses in Business and the MBA programs; starting Fall 2024.

Primary teaching responsibilities include Introductory Economics, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, and Business Forecasting at undergraduate level, Managerial Economics and Business and National Economy at MBA level. Candidates should have a demonstrable commitment to teaching excellence and service. The typical semester teaching load is four courses (12 hours).

Preference will be given to candidates with the appropriate terminal degree (e.g. Ph.D., DBA), a record of successful teaching, and relevant business and economics experience. Preferred skills include experience with statistical methods and software that can be utilized for forecasting. Recent college-level teaching experience is highly desirable. The successful applicant must have an educational philosophy compatible with that of a private, independent institution with a liberal arts environment.

We are looking for candidates with outstanding teaching skills, interest in advising traditional and non-traditional students from globally diverse populations. The ideal candidate will be willing to direct internships, and willing to become actively involved in the Rockford area community.
