Research Opportunities

Students in the Department of Psychology follow a progression of research courses that prepare them to design their own research, analyze data, and discuss findings. Beyond this required course of study, there are a number of options that students can pursue individually. They may choose to be part of a small research group led by a departmental professor. Students may also elect to develop individual projects on their own while being mentored by a faculty member. There is research being conducted in the department each semester, which provides opportunities for students to both be the ones creating the research, as well as being participants in research. Many of these projects result in poster and paper presentations at conferences.

As a founding member of the Tri-State Undergraduate Psychology Research Conference, Rockford University has showcased our students’ outstanding research since 1992. Students also present their research at various research symposiums held through the College of Science, Math, and Nursing at Rockford University. Finally, our students have presented at the Midwestern Psychological Association annual conference in Chicago.
