Social Work, Adjunct Instructor

Rockford University invites applications for an adjunct instructor for Treatment of Substance Abuse and Addictive Disorders. This course is scheduled for the fall 2026 semester on Mondays from 6:00pm-8:40pm in person.

The adjunct instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in substance use disorders, addiction theory, treatment modalities, and prevention strategies. This role supports student learning through evidence-based teaching practices, curriculum development, and active engagement in academic and professional communities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach an in person undergraduate course in substance abuse, addiction counseling, and related topics
  • Develop and update course syllabi, instructional materials, and assessments aligned with program and accreditation standards
  • Facilitate an engaging classroom learning environment
  • Evaluate student performance and provide timely, constructive feedback
  • Incorporate current research, policy, and evidence-based practices into course content
  • Adhere to institutional policies, including those related to academic integrity and student accommodations

Requirements: Master’s degree in Social Work from a CSWE accredited school

CADC preferred

Professional experience in substance abuse counseling or treatment

Preference will be given to those with experience in working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment.

Preference will also be given to those with relevant teaching experience in higher education.
