06/29/2017 2:52 pm

Severe storms during the evening of June 28, resulted in significant damage to the 5100 building which is located near the University’s East State Street entrance. The building is completely closed and the area should be avoided.

June 29 daytime classes normally held in the 5100 building have been cancelled. Evening classes for June 29, and for the time period of the next several weeks, are being relocated and affected students will be communicated with directly with additional details.

This building houses the Puri School of Business, the University Business Office, Accelerated Adult and Graduate Education offices, the graduate office, and the University’s Northern Illinois Center for Nonprofit Excellence (NICNE.) It is also home to classrooms and numerous related spaces.  The University anticipates that the building will be closed leading into the start of the fall semester and beyond. Accommodations are being made to relocate all affected services and personnel so as to ensure minimal impact to the University’s normal operations.

The University looks forward to welcoming students to the fall 2017 semester which begins on August 23, 2017. There is still time to enroll in any of the University’s degree programs. Contact Admissions with questions or for more information.
