Award-Winning Social Strategist and CEO Xavier Ramey to provide keynote on “Equity is a Foundation for Peace”

09/12/2019 3:05 pm

Rockford University welcomes Xavier Ramey on Thursday, September 19, 7 p.m., Maddox Theatre, as part of the University’s fall Forum Series. This presentation is made possible by Connect2Peace, Rockford Rotary Club, and Eliminate Racism 815. Xavier Ramey is the CEO of Justice Informed, LLC, a social impact consulting firm based in Chicago, Ill.

Serving as the lead of the Social Innovation and Philanthropy Strategy in the University of Chicago’s Office of Civic Engagement, Ramey is known for being an award-winning social strategist, noted public speaker, and conflict mediator. He has managed multi-million dollar philanthropic portfolios to stimulate employment in addition to working as a non-profit director of development in Chicago’s North Lawndale community. Recognized for his discussions on topics including community and economic development, policing and policy violence, Ramey draws connections from the Christian faith to our lived experience.

Ramey will provide a keynote that brings the issues of social equity, community development, peace-making, and history together for attendees such that their understanding of how the relationships they choose and do not choose, impact the world itself. He will invite each listener to consider how peace requires an understanding of injustice, history, and deciding to stand up for those we often stand upon.

Maddox Theatre is located in the Clark Arts Center on the University’s campus, 5050 East State Street, Rockford. Clark Arts is accessible. This event is free and the public is welcome to attend. Tickets are required and seating is limited. To reserve tickets, contact the Box Office at boxoffice@rockford.edu. The complete fall 2019 Forum Series is available on the University’s website at rockford.edu/artslectures/forum/.
