Rockford University invites applications for a full-time Assistant Teaching Professor in English and Spanish starting in Fall 2025. This professor will hold a joint appointment in the Department of English and the Department of Languages, Philosophy, Religion, and Cultures, with a primary responsibility of teaching English composition and Spanish language courses in person in Rockford, Illinois.

Candidates should demonstrate at least two years’ experience teaching beginning and intermediate Spanish classes and Spanish as a second language courses that meaningfully integrate cultural components, promoting an inclusive and interdisciplinary approach to language learning. The selected candidate will also have the opportunity to teach Hispanic Culture classes in English. We seek candidates who are enthusiastic about teaching language classes and are able to bring knowledge of Spanish-speaking cultures into the classroom in innovative ways. Courses in the Spanish program are currently capped at 15 students.

Candidates should also have a minimum of two years’ experience teaching college-level English composition. We are especially interested in candidates with experience teaching first-year writing to developing writers and who are dedicated to issues of linguistic justice. Courses in our three-course rhetoric sequence (serving both first-year and upper-level students) are currently capped at 16, 18, and 18 students, respectively.

Assistant Teaching Professors teach 15 credit hours (five 3-hour courses) per fall and spring semester, with occasional opportunities for summer teaching if desired. The selected candidate will have full voting rights, will have access to the same internal research and travel grants as tenure-line faculty, will attend department, college, and faculty meetings, and will participate in programmatic assessment. No research work is expected or required. Successful candidates have the opportunity for promotion to Associate and Full Teaching Professor.

Rockford University invites candidates for the position of Assistant Athletic Trainer.  The selected candidate will serve as an assistant to the athletic training staff for fall, winter, spring, and off-season events for men’s and women’s athletics.
