Rockford University is accepting applications for the position of Admission Counselor. Depending on the selected candidate’s education, experience, and demonstrated competencies, the University may have the opportunity to hire at different levels.
Reporting to the Vice President for Enrollment Management, this position is responsible for recruiting, advising, and enrolling prospective students while representing Rockford University to prospective students, families, high school counselors, and community partners. The successful candidate will manage an assigned recruitment territory, meet individual and team enrollment goals, and participate in recruitment travel, events, and occasional evening and weekend activities.
What You’ll Do
- Manage an assigned recruitment territory through travel, outreach, application review, and relationship-building to achieve enrollment goals.
- Evaluate prospective students using established University admission standards and recommend admission decisions.
- Counsel prospective students, families, and school counselors regarding admission requirements, financial aid, academic programs, and the enrollment process.
- Represent Rockford University at high schools, community colleges, college fairs, and recruitment events; conduct campus visits and information sessions.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with high schools, community colleges, and other organizations to support recruitment efforts.
- Coordinate specialized recruitment initiatives, such as athletic recruitment, transfer admissions, or other designated enrollment programs.
- Monitor recruitment trends, maintain accurate records, prepare reports, and contribute to recruitment communications and marketing materials.
- Foster an inclusive and welcoming environment for prospective students and families from diverse backgrounds.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Valid driver’s license, current auto insurance, and ability to meet Rockford University driving eligibility requirements.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
- Proficiency with computerized database systems and related technology.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to interpret academic requirements and compile reports.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, implement, and evaluate programs while managing short- and long-term goals.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and build collaborative relationships.
Education & Experience:
Admission Counselor – Level 1 (Entry Level)
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 1 to 3 years of relevant professional experience related to the duties and responsibilities of the position.
Admission Counselor – Level 2 (Mid-Level)
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Must have 1 to 3 years of experience as a college admission counselor, recruiter, or similar role.
