Monday, November 12, 2018 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm CST

Freelon is a captivating speaker and performer, whose presentations about race, politics, technology and culture leave audiences entertained and enlightened. He will provide an in-depth look at race as a cultural construct, in this multimedia presentation that grapples with the question of a post-racial America, and explores the redemptive, healing and emancipatory power of music and poetry. Freelon is also the founder of Blackspace, a digital maker space in Durham, NC, where young people learn about music, film, and coding. He has taught music, political science, and African American studies at UNC-Chapel Hill and North Carolina Central University.
