Physical Education

At Rockford University, we understand the importance of physical activity in everyone's life. So did our alumna, Jane Addams. From creating the country's first playground at her social settlement Hull-House in Chicago to serving on the executive board of the National Playground Association, she paved the way for bringing physical activity into people's everyday lives.

Our physical education program prepares competent students to excel in the fields of physical education and sport management. Physical Education majors choose between two tracks: teacher education or sport management.  Students pursuing teacher licensure are prepared to teach physical education at the elementary, middle, and secondary levels.  Students pursuing sport management apply business concepts and principles in a sport setting.  Physical Education majors are engaged in authentic learning experiences and interdisciplinary coursework throughout their program of study which include clinical settings and internships.  If you are interested in teaching physical education or studying sport management, consider joining the physical education team.
