About
I joined the CBS department in 2010 after teaching as a visiting assistant professor at DePauw University and Denison University. I also teach an evolution course every summer at Ohio State’s Stone Lab. Closer to home, I take students to dig for dinosaurs in Montana, explore temperate to tropical ecosystems in Florida, and play in the salt marshes of Sapelo Island, Georgia. I can often be found on campus or at Severson Dells Nature Center in the fall banding birds as part of various research projects, an activity in which I try to include not only students, but also my family.

Research Interests
Disease ecology of birds, migratory behavior of birds, avian role in spread of invasive shrubs
