Q: I'm having trouble with my personal computer, can I bring it in to IT?
A: Yes you can. We are open from 8am to 5pm.

A: We are located in the lower level of the Coleman library. Find us on Google Maps
Q: How do I access the internet on campus?
A: All students have access to the internet through the "Rockford" wireless network. Join and enter your username and password at the Captive Portal login screen.
Q: Why can I not view Youtube or Spotify?
A: You have more than likely logged in as the "RUGuest" account. This account is locked down to basic web browsing. Please remember to login with your RU user credentials.
Q:How do I clear my history and cache in my internet browser?

Q: Does every room have a WiFi access point?
A: While we *wish* we could do that, at this time we cannot. We've tried to space them to every *other* room.
Q: Can I use the ethernet ports that are on the access point in my room?
A: While the ports are there, they have been disabled. Please do not plug or tamper with the in room access points.

Q: Can I buy or bring a home router?
A: No. Routers will not function properly, and catching a rogue device on our network will result in disciplinary action.
Q: What about a wireless extender?
A: No. Unfortunately, we've tried these type of devices, and they do not work well.

A: Contact IT so we can check out your room to see if we can diagnose and fix the issue.

1) Web printing can only print certain document formats (PDF, MS Office files).
2) Web printing is not available off-campus and only available on the “Staff & Faculty” or “Rockford” wireless networks.
3) Web printing can only be used on certain printers. The availble printers are:
4) Please note, you will see a cost for printing the job. This is part of project to track student printing and does not affect faculty and staff. You can safely ignore the cost.
Steps:
Step 1) Navigate to ‘webprint.rockford.edu’.
Step 2) You will be prompted for your RU login and password. Enter them and click ‘Log in’
Step 3) Click on the ‘Submit a Job’ button.
Step 4) Choose your printer from the group of available printers. Select ‘Print Options and Account Selection’.
Step 5) Decide how many copies you need to print and select ‘Upload Documents’.
Step 6) Upload your document by either dragging or clicking the “Upload from Computer” button. Select ‘Upload & Complete’.
Step 7) Pick up your printed document at the printer your selected!

The support of the IT Staff
Our hope is that all members of our campus become an active participant in our evolving digital community. Rockford University accounts are issued to all University faculty, staff, and students to access online tools. Individuals are provided with a username and password necessary to access the Internet, email, personal space on network servers, and other computing resources.
Rockford University’s Information Technology (IT) supports the academic mission of the University by providing access to technology resources, facilities, and information essential to teaching, learning, research, and general scholarship. The IT Center, located in the lower level of the Howard Colman Library, is responsible for maintaining the infrastructure, facilities and resources of the campus network, computer labs, and technology services. We have several computer labs available for use by members of our campus community:
In addition to our labs and open areas, Rockford University offers several classrooms outfitted with individual computers for instructional use. Each lab contains 20 student machines, as well as a projector and screen for the instructor. The rooms in Starr Science also have an instructional laptop. They are:
WiFi access is available in all academic buildings, residence halls and administration buildings. Members of the Rockford University community can log into the ‘Rockford’ wireless network with their username and password.
The IT Help Desk is located in the lower level of the Howard Colman Library (east entrance). The Help Desk is staffed Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Students may request assistance by calling the Help Desk at 815-226-4127 or via email at support@rockford.edu. Additionally, technology guides are available on the Portal to assist students with the following: Password Management System, forwarding RU email, and setting up RU email on a mobile device.
