Visiting Assistant Professor of Chemistry

06/01/2018 11:30 am

Rockford University invites applicants for a one-year visiting position in chemistry. The primary focus of the position is enthusiastic and effective teaching in organic chemistry lectures and labs. The successful candidate would likely teach introductory labs as well. Spring semester teaching will include organic chemistry and the possibility of developing an upper-level course. We also seek to integrate scientific thinking into the broader college curriculum through imaginative courses and faculty collaboration across the disciplines. Therefore, candidates with teaching interests that span other fields (e.g. bio-organic) are encouraged to apply. Enthusiasm for teaching in a small-college liberal arts setting is essential.

The position will be offered at the Visiting Assistant Professor or Instructor level and will begin August 2018. Minimum qualifications for appointment are a Master’s degree or PhD in chemistry or biochemistry or a related field and demonstrated teaching effectiveness. Candidates that are ABD will be considered. Applications will be reviewed starting immediately, and will be accepted until the position is filled. Please send curriculum vitae, a statement of teaching philosophy, and three letters of recommendation to HumanResources@rockford.edu.
