Visiting Assistant Professor of Biology

Rockford University invites applicants for a one-year visiting position in biology. Two positions are available.

Biology, Intro: The primary focus of the position is enthusiastic and effective teaching in introductory level biology courses. The successful candidate will teach a combination of introductory majors biology courses and Anatomy and Physiology labs for a total of 12 contact hours per semester. There is also the possibility of developing an upper division or non-majors course in the spring semester. The introductory sequence includes courses in cellular and molecular biology, animal diversity and physiology, and plant diversity and physiology. The Anatomy and Physiology lab is geared toward allied health students and is not a cadaver lab. Enthusiasm for effective teaching in a small-college liberal arts setting is essential.

Biology, Genetics and Microbiology: The primary focus of the position is enthusiastic and effective teaching in genetics and microbiology courses. The successful candidate will teach a combination of courses and labs for a total of 12 contact hours per semester. Enthusiasm for effective teaching in a small-college liberal arts setting is essential.

Both positions will be offered at the Visiting Assistant Professor or Instructor level and will begin August 2018. Minimum qualifications for appointment are a Master’s degree or PhD in biology or a related field and demonstrated teaching effectiveness. Candidates that are ABD will be considered.
