All Employees of Rockford University are required to complete Responsible Employee Training surrounding Title IX/sexual misconduct and gender-based harassment, discrimination, and retaliation of persons harmed or wronged. This session is for employees who were invited to new employee orientation, but may not have attended and for continuing employees who have missed training for one year or more. Join the Compliance and Title IX Office and Lang Health, students, employees, and several other campus partners to read a proclamation for taking a stand against domestic violence. With 1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men experiencing the impact of domestic violence in their lifetime, we encourage you to stand in solidarity by reading the proclamation to stand up for, stand with, and speak out against this societal issue.

Wednesday, Oct. 25, after the campus starts “putting a nail in domestic violence” at 11:30 a.m., we will pause for a moment to read the proclamation and pledge at 12:15 p.m. At 12:30 p.m., we will witness the launch of “Beautiful,” a video created by RU Student Michael Jender in recognition of domestic violence awareness and bullying awareness month. He will share the inspiration behind creating the video. The video will be available on the Title IX page after the launch. All activities will be held in The Den area.

Did you know domestic violence is the 3rd leading cause of homelessness among families? We aim to help put an end to domestic violence as supporter of the “Put a Nail in It,” an initiative sponsored by Safe Horizons and the No More campaign. This is the second year RU has participated in solidarity with survivors of domestic violence.

How can you support?: Meet us at the Den, have your ring finger painted purple (the nationally recognized color for domestic violence awareness) and spread the word! Simple as that and takes less than 10 minutes. The Put a Nail in It awareness program will be held Oct 24 & Oct 25. We extended the time for Oct 24 until 2:30.
