DESCRIPTION:Color Out Fridays are presented by Rock Solid Healthy Lifestyle and sponsored by Lang Health Center and Student Life. Every Friday the Rock Solid Healthy Lifestyle table will be set up in the Den from 10am-2pm to distribute student-centered health information\, provide fun activities and events\, and raffle off prizes. Each week is centered around a different topic\, such as sexual health\, alcohol awareness\, or campus safety. Every Friday is Color Out Friday. This means that each Friday students who wear the coordinating color of the week can earn punches on their Rock Solid Healthy Lifestyle Card. A minimum of 8 out of 12 punches are needed to enter into the grand prize drawing at the end of the semester. It is a fun and easy way to participate on campus and win great prizes! The dates are below and they are included in the attached pdf. With 1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men experiencing the impact of domestic violence in their lifetime\, we encourage you to stand in solidarity by reading the proclamation to stand up for\, stand with\, and speak out against this societal issue. \nWednesday\, Oct. 25\, after the campus starts “putting a nail in domestic violence” at 11:30 a.m.\, we will pause for a moment to read the proclamation and pledge at 12:15 p.m. At 12:30 p.m.\, we will witness the launch of “Beautiful\,” a video created by RU Student Michael Jender in recognition of domestic violence awareness and bullying awareness month. He will share the inspiration behind creating the video. The video will be available on the Title IX page after the launch. DESCRIPTION:Did you know domestic violence is the 3rd leading cause of homelessness among families? We aim to help put an end to domestic violence as supporter of the “Put a Nail in It\,” an initiative sponsored by Safe Horizons and the No More campaign. This is the second year RU has participated in solidarity with survivors of domestic violence. \nHow can you support?: Meet us at the Den\, have your ring finger painted purple (the nationally recognized color for domestic violence awareness) and spread the word! Simple as that and takes less than 10 minutes. The Put a Nail in It awareness program will be held Oct 24 & Oct 25. We extended the time for Oct 24 until 2:30. \nMeet and get your nail painted by student athletes\, members of the Title IX Team and the new Lang Health Counseling staff. There will be a series of stations and activities available to illustrate different ways that students can get fit. Each student has the opportunity to complete the stations\, and you can even choose to compete against others. Those with the best times and records for each station will receive prizes. We will also have music and yard games available if students want to just come hang out! Students can come and go all day. It’s a great way to learn about fitness and have some fun while we’re at it.

DESCRIPTION:Hi everyone! My name is Taylor Larson and I’m the Graduate Assistant for Lang Health Center. As part of my Graduate Assistantship with the Health Center I am helping get our Rock Solid Healthy Lifestyle Program up and running for the year. This is the program that helped put on smoothie Wednesdays last year and other events. I just wanted to give you all an idea of how this program is going to look this year and how you can get involved. \nEach week we’re going to have a theme for awareness based on the National Health Organization’s Observations. For example\, our first week\, starting September 9\, will be Suicide Awareness and Prevention Week. During these weeks we will host events that coincide with the cause and we will also help spread awareness about related events that are going on in the community. \nWe are looking for students who are interested in sponsoring or hosting an event\, helping plan and orchestrate events\, or even just to hand out flyers or put up posters. THERE IS NO LONG-TERM COMMITMENT. This is not a club. You get to pick when\, how often\, and what you want to volunteer for. We are just looking for students who are passionate about a cause and looking for a way to spread awareness. The Health Center will be your resource for planning events\, purchasing supplies\, and more. \nAlso\, every Friday will be a “Color Out For the Cause” day. This means\, for example\, that if it’s breast cancer awareness week\, you wear pink. If you wear pink and check in at the Rock Solid Table in the Den\, you will get a punch on your Rock Solid punch card and you will get a small prize. Once you get so many punches\, you get entered into a drawing for a Fitbit. We are looking for students to help spread awareness about the Cause and the Color of the week and volunteer at the table. \nI understand that many of you are already very busy and involved\, but I also understand that many of you have things that you are passionate about. Come to the meeting\, tell us your ideas\, and we will plan events according to what you want!
