SUMMARY:Art Gallery Hours
DESCRIPTION:Visit the gallery from 3-6pm to see Erin Furimsky’s solo exhibition\, “Beneath Repetition” at the Rockford University Art Gallery in the Clark Arts Center. \nErin Furimsky’s meticulous details reflect elements of domesticity\, floral motifs\, and calligraphy. The fullness of the ceramic sculptures give the illusion of buoyancy\, complementing the vivid surface treatment. Fragments and layers accumulate organically across the bulbous surfaces of Furimsky’s sculptures\, leaving a sense of order remaining as the embellishments are coupled with linear patterns and blocks of solid color.

SUMMARY:Gallery Reception for "Compact(ed)" with artists Kristina Paabus and Max Seinfeld
DESCRIPTION:Compact(ed) with artists Kristina Paabus & Max Seinfeld\nExhibition Dates: Jan. 27 – March 3\, 2017\nFriday\, Jan. 27\n6-8:30 p.m.\, reception for the artists\n5-6 p.m.\, artist lectures in CAC 111 \nIn the works of Paabus and Seinfeld\, moments of intimacy emerge amongst layers of tension. Both artists create balance using abstract\, formal elements and explore architecture and language. The interplay of color\, line\, space\, and texture in Max Seinfeld’s minute sculptures represents the action and emotion found in both relationships and the environment. Kristina Paabus’ drawings and prints use dramatic spaces and gestural lines to create complex environments that examine structural systems of logic. Seinfeld’s accents of color that highlight shapes and movement complement Paabus’ concentrated negative space and layering of patterns. Both artists explore spatial relationships with engaging details that instill a desire to investigate the constructs of society.

SUMMARY:Art Gallery: Letitia Qesenberry 'small antidote'
DESCRIPTION:Letitia Quesenberry \nsmall antidote \nExhibition dates: \nOctober 28 – December 2\, 2016 \n  \nFriday\, October 28 \nReception for the artist: 6-8:30pm \n  \nLetitia Quesenberry uses subtlety and obscurity as tools of investigation\, lenses through which she inspects themes of memory\, perception\, and representation. While her portfolio varies in approach and message\, a unity of effect runs through her work. Quesenberry offers this thread of continuity\, a cognitive emotional moment of rest and quiet\, to consider the many ways that certainty is elusive and ambiguity is compelling. \nVisit https://www.rockford.edu/artslectures/artgallery/ for more information about upcoming exhibits. The Rockford University Art Gallery provides a varied series of art exhibitions and related programming in support of theDepartment of Art and Art History and is an important educational and cultural resource for the campus and community. The Gallery is located in the Clark Arts Center\, the locus of the University’s Department of Art and Art History. \nAdmission is free. \nHours:\nMon-Wed 3:00 to 6:00 pm\nFri 2:00 to 5:00 pm\nand by appointment.
