The Graduate Assistant will support Career Development through planning and executing workshops and events, counseling students and alumni, and effectively performing other duties as listed in the description.  He/she co- supervises student workers. When the Director is out of the office, the Graduate Assistant will act in his/her place.  The benefits include a monthly stipend and up to 21 credit hours of tuition remission per academic year.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Counsel students regarding resumes, cover letters, interviewing, deciding a career path, finding an internship, graduate school, the job search, etc.
  • Work with undecided students through one-on-one appointments to help them learn how their values, skills, interest and personality relate to choosing a career path.
  • Help plan and organize the annual Career and Internship Fair
  • Help plan and organize other events and workshops including Coffee and Career Chats, Nursing Interview Workshop, Education Interview Workshop, etc.
  • Help prepare and write articles for the semi-annual Career Connections newsletter
  • Update internal career portal and external website with career related information and events and services offered by the department
  • Present career-related material in workshops and classes
  • Inform current students and potential students of services offered by Career Services at ROAR Days, SOAR Days and Visit Days
  • Help manage the Federal Work Study Off-Campus Program, including the annual budget
  • Administer and gather data from graduate surveys
  • Other duties as assigned 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Applicant must be admitted into the MAT or MBA program.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Must be computer proficient and comfortable with general office equipment (phone, fax, printer).
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret information.
  • Ability to work 25+ hours per week.
  • Ability to effectively present information to students, parents, employers, faculty, and staff.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to develop rapport with students and alumni to effectively counsel them. 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree required. A degree in psychology, education or a related field is desired.

The Regent’s Softball Team invites applicants for a Graduate Assistant position to begin Fall 2017.
SUMMARY:1. To foster, mold, guide, lead, and direct student-athletes towards a quality educational experience in order to obtain the ultimate goal of a degree.
2. To develop a successful collegiate softball program and individual coaching philosophy through recruiting, off-season programs, practice planning, and in-season execution.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Recruiting phone calls, off-campus visits, setting up on-campus visits.
• High School visits, both in and out of state.
• Setting up and executing practices.
• Game and practice coaching.
• Individual student-athlete meetings.
• Weekly study table sessions.
• Set up individual tutoring and learning sessions through the usage of Rockford University programs.
• Classroom attendance and grade checks.
• Strength and conditioning supervision.
• Film breakdown of both practice and game film.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelors Degree.
• Acceptance into the graduate program
• Successful playing experience preferably at the collegiate level.
• Position specific knowledge of the game
• A valid driver’s license
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Must be willing to take initiative and work hard
• Working knowledge of Strength and Conditioning

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical and mental demands of this position are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential job functions of an assistant softball coach. While performing the duties of this job, employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, feel objects, tools, or controls, and talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, and kneel. The incumbent may occasionally lift and/or move up to 45 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Employees work in a professional office environment that is highly visible to members and the university community. Normal office conditions prevail. Ability to be available at times outside normal working hours for meetings and events is a must.

POSITION: Graduate Assistant, Radio Station Manager

DEPARTMENT: Marketing

SUMMARY:

The Graduate Assistant coordinates all of the components of the radio station, including but not limited to: developing the programming infrastructure, managing the volunteer schedule and duties, developing revenue generation (i.e. sponsorhip, etc.) opportunities, and cultivating new relationships.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Admitted to the MBA or MAT program. In addition, self motivated individual, who can multi-task and provide oversight to managing the programming, volunteers and development of the University’s radio station. Strong communication and written skills are also necessary. Familiarity with station equipment and technology. Music background and interest a plus.

BENEFITS:

  • Working Hours-approximately 25 hours per week, not to exceed 40 hours in any week
  • Tuition Remission-21 hours over Fall, Spring, Summer (9,9,3)
  • Stipend- $200 per working month.

Any GA working a portion of the year will receive prorated benefits.  The above described benefits assume 12 months of work.

Rockford University, a member of the NCAA Division III, located in north central Illinois, invites applications for a graduate assistant position with Men’s Soccer. The primary responsibility will be to assist the head coach in all facets of the program, including the recruitment of quality student-athletes, organization and planning of practices, game preparation, administrative duties, scouting, and monitoring of student-athlete academic progress.  Graduate Assistants must be available to work 30+ hours per week.  The position includes tuition remission, room and board, and a stipend.

SUMMARY: The Sports Information Graduate Assistant will assist the Sports Information Director with the promotion and publicity of Rockford University’s 14 NCAA Division III intercollegiate varsity sports.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Sports Information Graduate Assistant responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting with all game day operations; writing, editing, and disseminating press releases, game notes and stories; producing athletics publications, managing the athletic department social media pages and producing other digital media content; updating the athletics website (www.GoRegents.com); compiling, maintaining, and distributing statistics; and operating computer systems including Adobe Creative Suite and Stat Crew. Some travel may be required.

QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations or related field; admission into a Rockford University graduate program; previous experience in a Sports Information Office is preferred; Experience with and knowledge of Adobe suite and Stat Crew is recommended.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Sports Information requires attendance at most home athletic events, both indoor and outdoors; Extensive nights and weekends are required; Office work will also be involved.
