Dr. Gleicher is Professor of Political Science and immediate past chair of the Political Science Department at Rockford University. Dr. Gleicher has served Rockford University with distinction since 1976. He has taught classes in political philosophy, constitutional law, American national government, and politics in literature. Dr. Gleicher has been active in virtually every aspect of faculty leadership including, but certainly not limited to, serving as Faculty Chair; director of the Honors Program in Liberal Arts; various terms as chair of the Curriculum Committee, Academic Standards Committee, Nominations Committee, and Advisory Committee on Long-Range Academic Planning; Faculty Parliamentarian; and Washington Semester Program Advisor.
He is the author of two books, The Accidental Revolutionary: Essays on the Political Teaching of Jean-Paul Sartre (University Press of America, 1982) and Political Themes in the Hebrew Scriptures (Palgrave Macmillan, 2010), and articles on Sartre, Moses Maimonides, Shakespeare, Plutarch, the Hebrew Scriptures, and various topics in constitutional studies. Along with his publications, Dr. Gleicher has remained an active scholar throughout his career. He continues to write numerous papers and presents regularly at academic, civic, and association events. An instrumental figure in the University’s Phi Beta Kappa Society chapter for more than 23 years, he is a member of The Phi Beta Kappa Society, Eta of Illinois Chapter, and was the chapter vice president from 1997-99; president from 1999-2000; and is currently its secretary/treasurer since 2000.
