Nursing Department Coordinator, part-time

The Nursing Department at Rockford University invites applications for the position of the Nursing Department Coordinator. This nonexempt,  part-time (20 hours/week) position will provide administrative support to the Nursing Department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Maintain confidential student and faculty files.
  • In collaboration with the Nursing Department chair, assist with the process of communicating with prospective students, managing nursing program applications, and admitting nursing students.
  • Monitor student compliance with clinical and program requirements.
  • Collaborate with department chair and committees to maintain and analyze documentation of course assessment, program assessment, program enrollment, student success data, and graduate licensure data.
  • Assist with preparing Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) and Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) accreditation annual reports.
  • Support preparation, collection, and archive of department evidentiary accreditation documents, clinical site agreements, and department committee minutes.
  • Assist with managing nursing facilities, managing room reservations, and tracking orders of supplies.
  • Assist with nursing course scheduling.
  • Assist chair with coordinating student recruitment, student orientation meetings, and advisory meetings.
  • Assist with nursing course exam administration/proctoring.
  • Perform other duties as requested by department chair, showing a high degree of flexibility and creative problem-solving.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint
  • Higher education administrative experience preferred
  • Nursing education or healthcare experience preferred

Setting

Rockford University is a small private institution with a curriculum grounded in the liberal arts and complemented by professional and practical experience. The university campus is located in a park-like setting that is nestled into a small urban environment that supports three robust medical centers (OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center, Swedish American Medical Center and Javon Bea Hospital- Rockton and Riverside Campus) as well as numerous healthcare agencies and community resources. The Department of Nursing is part of the College of Science, Math and Nursing.
