Graduate Certificate Program

GRADUATE CERTIFICATE PROGRAM

We’re looking for people who want to change things for the better and want to change them now! If you’d like to become a better business person without a long-term business school commitment, our Graduate Certificate in Business Administration could be just right for you.

It’s practical. The Graduate Certificate program is a value-added feature of the PURI School of Business, providing an advanced-level business series for professionals who want stronger business skills, but aren’t necessarily thinking MBA. It’s comprised of five of our core MBA courses, each designed to build and improve upon your basic business skills. Classes are kept small to allow you to share with other students and learn from their management experiences.

The Graduate Certificate courses are: Legal Environment of Business, Management and Leadership Theory and Practice, Marketing, Organizational Communication and one MBA elective of your choice.

It’s convenient. Courses are scheduled with the needs of working professionals in mind. All are offered at least twice a year and run for 15-16 weeks in the fall and spring and for eight weeks in the summer. You could complete your Graduate Certificate in Business Administration in as little as one year.

It’s surprisingly affordable. The Graduate Certificate in Business Administration offers you a series of graduate-level business courses for less than you would expect to pay for a couple of week-long seminars.

The benefits. If you own your own business, you’ll run it more effectively. If you work for someone else, you’ll be a more valuable employee. And if you happen to fall in love with the program, all your certificate credits will apply toward earning your MBA at Rockford University.

As a business leader, you have the power to promote astonishing changes–in your business, in your community, and in your world. If that sounds exciting to you, please contact us.

MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (MBA)

Housed in the PURI School of Business, our Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree began in 1981 after extensive study of the needs of the Rockford area business and corporate community. With these needs in mind, our MBA program has become a vital and integral part of both the community and the University. Small classes and a professional, experienced, and dedicated faculty provide our MBA graduate students with a quality learning experience.

The MBA at Rockford University is designed for virtually anyone holding a 4-year undergraduate degree from an accredited institution. No particular academic background is required. The degree program consists of 12 three-hour classes (nine required and three electives), plus up to five prerequisites.

MBA Admission Requirements

For admission to the MBA program, students must submit the following to be evaluated:

Submission of the above does not guarantee admission
**You MUST be admitted prior to taking your 12th credit hour**

**Students enrolling in 6 or more credit hours per semester must provide the required immunization records to Lang Center for Health**

Program Philosophy

The MBA program seeks to develop general managerial effectiveness for the person in, or aspiring to, middle or upper management in either a for-profit or not-for-profit organization.* The program covers a variety of functional areas such as accounting, economics, finance, management and marketing. The MBA at Rockford University has a balanced, application skill-based program, which emphasizes development of management competencies, with special emphasis on oral and written communication skills instead of being highly theoretical.

* Rockford University recognizes that local not-for-profits are invaluable in spurring community growth and development. While many for-profit organizations in the area do offer tuition assistance to their employees, most not-for-profits are unable to offer the same advantage. So, the MBA program at Rockford University offers a tuition discount for public and not-for-profit employees serving the Rock River Valley.

Accreditation

The MBA at Rockford University is nationally accredited by the International Assembly of Collegiate Business Education (IACBE). The University is also accredited through several organizations.
