Jean Swindle is an assistant professor in Urban Education and coordinates the Education
Pathways Program, a grow-your-own urban teacher diversity for both pre- and in-service teachers with the local school district. Dr. Swindle holds a Ph.D. in Instructional Leadership with a focus on language learning, assessment, and evaluation and the social and cultural foundations of education from the University of Alabama. She has a MA in Secondary Education and a BS in International Business with a minor in Spanish. Dr. Swindle has experience as a middle and high school teacher, middle school administrator, and general director of an international bilingual K-12 school. She has served on several AdvancED Engagement Reviews, serves on international accreditation teams for Latin America and the Caribbean with other accrediting bodies, and presents at regional, national, and international conferences on teacher language beliefs and culturally relevant pedagogical practices.
