SUMMARY:IWAT Presents- Civil Liberties in the Time of Pandemic
DESCRIPTION:The Institute for World Affairs and Trade at Rockford University in partnership with Rockford Public Library are presenting a program about the present COVID-19 pandemic in which Americans face the serious issue of balancing the Constitutional rights of individuals against governments’ need to protect public health. \n Join us for a 90 minute presentation and an open discussion on Wednesday\, June 24\, 2020\, at 1pm CT (2pm ET).  Issues will include stay-at-home measures; freedom of religion\, travel\, and association; modifications to electoral process; mandatory vaccine requirements; business closures; rights of prisoners and exposure to the virus\, and government monitoring measures. \nPresenters are Jason Mazzone\, who is the Albert E Jenner\, Jr. Professor of Law at the University of Illinois and the Director of the Illinois Program in Constitutional Theory\, History and Law; and Attorneys Dan McCarthy and Joe Richotte\, who are affiliated with the law firm of Butzel Long\, and have extensive experience in civil and criminal trial and appellate practice.
