Course 3: Human Resource Management**
Thursdays, March 2, 9, 16, 23, 2017. 1:30—4 p.m. Instructor: Sue Buckwalter
Learn detailed information on the HR function within the nonprofit sector. Key issues will include: fostering an environment for positive employee relations; exploring the steps in the recruitment process; understanding the broad umbrella of performance management; reviewing current laws that guide HR actions; an overview of best practices for staff and volunteers. CEUs for Social Workers and CFREs are awarded for completion of this course.
Instructor: Sue Buckwalter — Sue is the founder and president of HR Concepts, Inc., a human resources consulting business. Her clients range from small to midsize in both the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors. Prior to starting her consulting business in 2000, she worked for the former Warner Lambert and Rockford Health System. Sue understands the rewards and challenges of working for a not-for-profit as one of her earliest jobs out of college was fundraising for the American Cancer Society. Sue has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, has over 25 years of experience, and has been PHR certified since 1993 by the Society of HR Management.
**This is the third of five courses in the Certificate in Nonprofit Management Program. Courses do not need to be taken in order. Upon successful completion of all five courses (90% overall attendance) participants will receive a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Rockford University.
