Rockford University seeks candidates for a full-time, tenure-track position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in history, appointment effective Fall 2024. The successful candidate will have a strong background in non-Western (i.e. not European or US) and European history. Responsibilities include teaching the World History survey, introductory and upper-level courses in the candidate’s area of specialty, and courses in service to the major. Time period of specialization is open.
Excellent teaching ability is a must and candidates need an educational philosophy compatible with a private, independent institution and liberal arts-based curriculum. Teaching load is 12 credits per semester (four 3-credit courses) and applicants must have completed all Ph.D. requirements by the date of appointment. Participation in the University’s scholarly community, as well as activities at the University (i.e. student academic advising, faculty committee service) and in the larger local community is also expected of the successful candidate for progress toward tenure and promotion.
