Assistant or Associate Professor of Education, Tenure-track

Rockford University is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time, tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor of Education position within the Education Department starting Fall 2024.

The Education Department at Rockford University includes a traditional undergraduate program and a Master of Education in Teaching (MAT) program that lead to a Professional Educator License (PEL) in Illinois as well as a Master of Education (M.Ed) program for licensed teachers.

Responsibilities:

  • The teaching load is four courses (12 hours) per semester
  • Nighttime, in-person, and online teaching will be required
  • Collaborative work with community/district partners, observation of pre-service teachers in the field, and instruction of foundational and teaching methods courses across grade bands   
  • Monitor student progress and provide support as needed
  • Advise graduate and undergraduate students in the Education Department
  • Participate in program development

Candidates must have a Master’s Degree in the appropriate field (preference will be given to those with the appropriate terminal degree (Ph.D., Ed.D), a record of successful teaching, and at least five years’ experience in a relevant setting (P K-12 school setting), preferably in the state of Illinois.  Recent college-level teaching experience is highly desirable but not required. The successful applicant must have an educational philosophy compatible with a private, independent institution with a liberal arts environment.

Preference will be given to applicants with teaching experience in the following areas:

  • Math Education
  • ESL/Bilingual Education
  • Early Childhood Education
