The Teaching with Primary Sources Program at Rockford University will partner with community members this year to offer exciting professional development opportunities. The TPS program looks forward to working with Veterans Memorial Hall of Rockford this autumn to host our annual Summit. More information and dates will be available shortly.

Local History: A Treasure Trove of Primary Sources
8:30 a.m. – Noon, Our annual Summit will be hosted at Rockford’s Veterans Memorial Hall located at 211 N. Main St. Please join us as Keynote speaker Leanne Wright, Curator of Collections at the Veterans Memorial Hall and Museum, will provide a tour of the museum, and present a number of local artifacts from the Civil War to the present. Attendees will learn how to handle and care for artifacts and get the opportunity to explore the collection. Breakout sessions presented by TPS coaches will focus on connecting the local artifacts to the Library of Congress digitized collections with an emphasis on literacy, inferencing, and inquiry.
