Charter Fund Coordinator

We seek an energetic person to develop and implement efficient and effective fundraising initiatives in the support and growth of the Rockford University Charter Fund (the annual fund of Rockford University).


The Coordinator will work directly with the Vice President for Institutional Advancement, joining a team of college advancement professionals that includes the director of marketing, director of communications, senior development officer, coordinator of alumni affairs, graphic designer, website administrator, data management coordinator and two graduate assistants. In addition, a cadre of three undergraduate student employees supports office operations as well as a group of undergraduate students who serve as support for the phone program. The Coordinator will be responsible for creating and implementing effective strategies for the following:

o Donor Stewardship (print and face to face gatherings – one on one and group).

o Internal and external communications (face to face and print) as relates to Development.

o Direct Mail solicitations.

o Phone Solicitation Program.

o E-Mail communication/solicitation for development purposes.

o On-Line Giving (marketing/increasing).

o Class Year/Reunion Giving.

o Graduating Class Year Giving.

o International Alumni Giving.

o Engaging affinity groups (Parents, Friends, MAT, MBA, BSMS, Pres. Scholars, RVC, etc.)

o Benchmarking and data development for donor acquisition and progression.

o Donor identification for work beyond Charter Fund (i.e. planned giving, campaigns and restricted giving).

o Development activities that support Alumni work.



Required skills and qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree is required. Advanced use of Microsoft Office Suite, most importantly Excel, is essential. Candidates must be service oriented and have a proven track record of working within an organization whose mission is to serve, nurture and grow. Advanced communication skills, both written and verbal, for the purpose of building and maintain relationships. Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends. The ability and commitment to represent Rockford University in a positive manner to all constituents present and future is essential.

Preferred skills and qualifications: At least two years direct experience in fundraising within a structured organization. Familiarity with internet research tools and relational database report writing software. Possess initiative, a proven ability to work independently, and a demonstrated aptitude to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of fundraising methodologies, ongoing.
