Coordinator of Alumni Affairs

 

We seek an energetic person to create and implement programming for and communications to the Alumni and Friends of Rockford College. The successful candidate will demonstrate initiative, a proven ability to work independently, and an aptitude to evaluate the effectiveness of programming and communications, ongoing. The Coordinator will join a team of college advancement professionals whose work centers on marketing, communications, alumni and development.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

            The Coordinator will work directly with the Vice President for Institutional Advancement. The Coordinator’s work will be supported by the director of marketing, director of communications, graphic designer, website administrator, data management coordinator and two graduate assistants. In addition a cadre of three undergraduate student employees supports office operations. The Coordinator will:

1.       Plan and implement alumni reunion at homecoming.

2.       Plan and implement local and regional alumni gatherings.

3.       Provide alumni communications content for quarterly college magazine.

4.       Maintain timely e-mail events postings to alumni.

5.       Maintain communication to alumni through ConnectRC (RC’s Web based community), Facebook, and other social media.

6.       Coordinate the class scribe/correspondent program

7.       In cooperation with the career services and student affairs offices, plan and implement social and professional networking events that bring alumni and students together for mutual benefit.

8.       Staff the Alumni Association Board

9.       Establish and maintain alumni chapters (geographic) and affinity groups (MBA, WRCR, etc.).

10.    Support annual community events, including Art on the Lawn and the Business Luncheon.

11.    Conduct or support other programs and plans as they arise.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

            A Bachelors degree is required. Candidates must have a proven track record of alumni work, or work in an organization that brings a variety of constituents together through events, communications and other programming. Candidates must be able to work independently and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Candidates must be service oriented and manage multiple priorities as a creative problem solver. Facility with the Microsoft Office Suite, most importantly Word, Excel and Outlook, is essential.

            Familiarity with internet research tools and relational database report writing software is desirable. Candidates must be able and willing to work evenings and weekends to assist in Alumni activities and events. The ability to represent Rockford College and the Alumni Association in a positive manner to all constituents is essential.
