RC staff appointed to professional panels

Three Rockford College academic professionals have recently received appointments to oversight roles in their respective fields.

Dr. Stephanie Quinn, executive vice president and dean of the college was appointed to the Accreditation Review Council (ARC) for the Higher Learning Commission with service beginning January 1, 2011 and ending August 31, 2014. ARC members serve on reader's panels and make recommendations to the institutional actions council or to a review committee. They also serve in an advisory capacity to the HLC staff and board.

Marilyn Greer, nursing, participated in the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) RN Item Writing October 4-7 in Chicago. NCSBN recruits qualified nurses to serve on the NCLEX-RN and NCLEX-PN exam review panels. Volunteers who participate are an integral part of the examination development process.

Lynn Stafford, education, had been approved as a committee member of the Learning Behavior Specialist I (LBS I) Review Committee for the Evaluation Systems Groups of Pearson, publishers of textbooks and other resources. Evaluation Systems is the contractor providing the Illinois Certification Testing System (ICTS) program.

Gleicher involved in scholarly activities

Professor Jules Gleicher, political science, attended the annual meeting of the Association for Political Theory in Portland, OR, October 21-23, at which he chaired and guided the discussion for a panel on "Religion and Politics." Also, Gleicher's review of George Anastaplo's book, "Reflections on Life, Death, and the Constitution" appeared in the October 2010 issue of the American Journal of Legal History.

Soosloff at SOFA this weekend

Professor Philip Soosloff, art, will be displaying at the SOFA exhibit (Sculpture, Objects, Functional Art) at Navy Pier in Chicago, November 5-7. Soosloff will be represented there with the Thomas Riley Galleries of Cleavland, Ohio. He will have seven or eight pieces on display this year. It is his eighth year participating in this show.
