Corporate responsibility focus of 6th annual Business Luncheon

Rockford, Ill., – The Rockford University Department of Economics, Business and Accounting will host a luncheon and program on Thursday, May 1, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Regents Hall, Burpee Center, Rockford University, 5050 E. State St., Rockford.
The keynote speaker at the event will be Chris Budde, vice president and general manager, Protein Biology at Thermo Fisher Scientific. Mr. Budde’s talk, "Corporate Social Responsibility: Making the World Healthier, Cleaner and Safer”, will incorporate key aspects of his 30-year career in the scientific business field.
Budde has helped design, produce and market tools that have led to discoveries in the life science revolution. He has worked closely with other scientific and business colleagues to introduce many new products to scientists worldwide, enabling further developments in medicine, drug discovery, bioenergy, food production, and a variety of other research and development areas.
Since joining Pierce Chemical Company in 1998, now part of Thermo Fisher Scientific, Budde has overseen growth of the company from $25 million to over $300 million in annual revenue. He has led the sales and marketing and operations functions of the company before assuming the role of General Manager in 2006.
Budde has been active in the non-profit sector by serving on the board of directors for a range of organizations, including: Wisconsin Biotechnology Association (now BioForward), Rockford Area Ventures and Illinois Growth Enterprises.
Cost to attend the luncheon is $45 for individuals, $350 for a corporate table of eight. Check in and networking begins at 11:30 a.m., with luncheon and program beginning at noon.
