Rockford, Ill., — A lively construction-themed philanthropic event will take place on Saturday, February 21, on the Rockford University campus, 5050 East State Street, Rockford. The theme for this year’s annual gala is "Under Construction: Building Lives and Opportunities.” Proceeds from the event will be used to establish the Student Opportunity Fund to provide for expanded educational enrichments like student/faculty research, field-study, internships, and student development, along with other co-curricular activities that enhance the student experience and provide the best in opportunities to augment the academic program at Rockford University.
It’s also the 167th birthday of Rockford University. Tribute will be given to this milestone, with guests getting a sneak peek at final plans for the upcoming renovations to Burpee and Seaver Centers. The gala’s construction-based theme will officially kick-off the next several months or renovations slated to begin in early May when spring semester classes conclude.
Highlights to the construction chic atmosphere include the Original Butt Sketch Artist Krandel Lee Newton, who has drawn the back-sides of Warren Buffet, Vanessa Williams, Bill Gates, Queen Latifah and more; and who has also been featured on Jimmy Kimmel Live! For those preferring faces to derrières, regional sketch artist Bernie Tennis will also be present. Music, silent auction, a short program by University employees and dancing will round out the evening.
A 50/50 raffle is also being offered with ticket sales happening in advance. Purchasers need not be present to win. Gala tickets are $125 per person.
