Growing profession of Sport Management topic of symposium on Nov. 21

Rockford, Ill., – Senior students in the Sport Management program at Rockford University will host a sport management symposium on Thursday, November 21 from 6 – 8 p.m. in Regents Hall on the Rockford University Campus, 5050 E. State Street, Rockford. The symposium will feature a variety of panelists who will discuss various aspects of their careers, as well as opportunities in the Rockford area in sport management.
Guest panelist include: Bryan Wickline, President of the Rockford Aviators; Brad Sholes, General Manager of the Rockford Aviators; Gordon Kay, Executive Manager/General Director of RAVE (Rockford Area Venues and Entertainment Authority); Mike Peck, Director of Communications for Rockford IceHog’s Hockey; Trisha Burgan, Senior Brand Consultant for G and G Outfitters; Tim Dimke, Executive Director of the Rockford Park District; Zac Wilken, Manager of Ticket Sales for Quad City Mallards Hockey and Kristyn King, Director of Athletics at Rockford University.
Attendees of the event will have the opportunity to gain insight on the education needed to attain key positions in sports management/marketing, a field that the US Bureau of Labor and Statistics says will increase jobs by 14 percent from 2010-2020.This event is free to attend and is open to the public.
