Dunja Cosic honored as Lincoln Academy Laureate

Rockford, Ill., – Rockford University senior Dunja Cosic, of Rockford, Ill., has been selected as Rockford University’s Lincoln Academy Student Laureate for 2013, a state wide honor that recognizes an outstanding college senior from each of the four-year degree-granting institutions of higher learning in Illinois who demonstrate excellence in curricular and extracurricular activities.
At a ceremony held on November 2, 2013 in Springfield, Ill., Ms. Cosic was awarded the Lincoln Laureate Academy Student Laureate Medallion at the Student Laureate Convocation at the Old State Capitol, along with a monetary grant in the amount of $1,000 and certificate of achievement. The event marked the 39th year that students have been honored by the academy.
Ms. Cosic, a graduate of Boylan Catholic High School, is a Biochemistry major with a minor in Art History. Ms. Cosic is extremely active in many aspects of the University and the community. She is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa academic honor society, a Distinguished Scholar, a member of the RCCMC Math Club, the Alpha Helix science club, active in the German Society of Rockford and volunteers for SwedishAmerican Hospital, Presence Saint Anne Center, and tutors for both high school and college students. Ms. Cosic plans to attend medical school following her graduation from Rockford University in May 2014.
