ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Northern Athletics Conference released its post season awards for men’s tennis on Tuesday morning with the Regents receiving their first ever All-NAC award winner.  Sophomore Mladen Ubiparipovic (Loves Park, Ill./Harlem) was named to the All-Northern Athletics Conference Singles Team.  He is the lone Regent to receive All-NAC honors since Rockford College joined the conference in the fall of 2006.  Freshman Alex Kadamian (Rockford, Ill./Hononegah) was also recognized by the conference and named to the All-Sportsmanship Team.

Despite just being a sophomore, Ubiparipovic proved himself to be one of the top 13 singles players in the Northern Athletics Conference this season.  In just his first season playing in the #1 singles slot and with limited experience on the court, Ubiparipovic went 4-5 in conference play and 1-1 in the NAC Singles Tournament including winning his first career postseason match.  Ubiparipovic got off to a fast start in NAC play going 2-0 including a win over a fellow member of the All-NAC Singles Team.  The sophomore was never overwhelmed in any of his matches this season.  Even in his loses, Ubiparipovic was right there with all of his opponents including multiple tough 3-set defeats.  His final two loses of the season came in third-set tiebreakers with both of his opponents also making the All-NAC Singles Team.  Ubiparipovic’s 5 wins in the #1 singles spot is by far the most wins by a Regent since the formation of the NAC in the fall of 2006.
