RIVER FOREST, Ill. – The men’s and women’s outdoor track and field teams both took part in the two-day Northern Athletics Conference Championships this past weekend.  Both the men’s and women’s teams placed eighth over the weekend.  However, both sides saw some impressive individual performances.

The men’s team was led by sophomore Jacob Arnold (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield).  Arnold was involved in all 14 of the points scored by the men’s team.  He placed third in both the 100 meter and 200 meter dashes with times of 10.92 seconds and 22.54 seconds.  Arnold’s time in the 200 meter dash broke his own school record that he set one week prior.  The sophomore was also a part of the 4x400 meter relay team which finished seventh.  The team of Jacob Arnold, Amour Muro (Das es Salaam, Tanzania/Waterford), Carl Rapp (Union, Ill./Belvidere North) and Jason Springman (East Alton, Ill./East Alton-Wood River) finished in 3:33.24 breaking the school record in the event.  Springman and Muro also ran well in the 800 meter finishing ninth and tenth respectively.

The women’s team scored 15.5 points at the meet with Dani Buttel (Pecatonica, Ill./Pecatonica) the top women’s point scorer for the Regents.  Buttel placed fourth in the 100 meter dash and broke her own school record finishing the event in 12.95 seconds.  The junior also jumped 5.00 meters in the long jump for a fifth place finish, and she finished eighth in the 200 meter with a time of 27.67 seconds.  Freshman Stephanie Tassone (Sandwich, Ill./Sandwich) posted a sixth place finish in the triple jump with her best jumps totaling a distance of 9.96 meters.  Sophomore Taylor Inghram (Las Vegas, Nev./Arbor View) was the other Regent to score points for Rockford.  Inghram finished sixth in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 13:52.43.
