ROCKFORD, Ill. – There will be a lot at stake on Tuesday night when your Rockford College men’s basketball team welcomes the Concordia University Chicago Cougars to the Seaver Center for a 7:00 p.m. matchup. Currently the Regents are tied for first place in the conference with both Benedictine and Concordia Chicago. With a victory over the Cougars tonight, the men’s basketball team will win its first ever Northern Athletics Conference South Division Title.
Rockford has won 3 of the last 4 meetings against Concordia Chicago with the most recent being a 73-72 thriller back on January 19th in River Forest, Ill. The total combined margin of victory over the previous four meetings is just 12 points, with each of the last 3 games being decided by no more than 3 points. Seniors Paul Hall (Des Moines, Iowa/Roosevelt) and Dominique Walker (Chicago, Ill./Morgan Park) each came up huge for the Regents in the previous meeting scoring 24 and 22 points respectively.
Tuesday’s game is also senior night where Rockford College will be honoring its four seniors. Dominique Walker (Chicago, Ill./Morgan Park), Alen McVeigh (Rockford, Ill./Jefferson), Darryl Watkins (Rockford, Ill./Auburn) and Paul Hall (Des Moines, Iowa/Roosevelt) will all be recognized in a special presentation before the game.
The Rockford College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee is sponsoring a "Black Out” for the game. All in attendance are encouraged to show their support by wearing black to the game. Show your support and head over to the Seaver Center to cheer your Regents on as they try and win their first Northern Athletics Conference Championship.
