MILWAUKEE, Wis. – After going a week without playing a game, the men’s basketball team made the trip up to Milwaukee, Wis. to face the MSOE Raiders.  The Regents were a little slow getting out of the gates and quickly faced their largest deficit of the evening trailing the Raiders by 6 points less than 3 minutes into the game.  It was a back and forth affair for much of the first half as Rockford would chip away at the MSOE lead only to see the Raiders increase it back up to a two possession game.  Rockford was finally able to take its first lead of the evening with 4:01 left in the first half.  It would turn out to be a lead the Regents would not relinquish for the remainder of the evening.  After entering the half with a 3-point advantage Rockford came out of the locker room on fire connecting on its first 4 shots of the second half to take its largest lead of the evening at 41-33.  With less than a minute remaining in the game, and the Raiders within 2 points, Rockford was able to make clutch free throws to seal the 59-54 victory.  Wednesday night’s win coupled with Rockford’s 65-55 win over MSOE back in January, marks the first time since joining the NAC the Regents have swept the regular season series.  With the win, Rockford now has a 1-game lead in the NAC South Division with just 2 games remaining.  The Regents can secure a spot in the NAC Tournament with a win on Saturday at Benedictine and can clinch the South Division on Saturday with a win and a Concordia University Chicago loss.

Rockford got over half of its points from just two of its players on Wednesday against MSOE.  Senior Paul Hall (Des Moines, Iowa/Roosevelt) led the team in scoring for the 6th time this season scoring with 18 points.  Hall also added 4 rebounds and 3 steals.  Junior forward Danny Fair (Chicago, Ill./Morgan Park) scored 12 points with 5 rebounds and 1 steal.  The two combined to go an impressive 11-19 from the floor and 6-8 at the free throw line for the evening.  The rest of the team struggled going 11-29 from the floor and 4-10 from the free throw line.

The Regents will look to improve their offensive output on Saturday at 4:15 p.m. in Lisle, Ill. against the Benedictine University Eagles.  Rockford won the previous meeting 77-65 back on January 11, 2012 at the Seaver Center.  In the previous meeting Rockford shot over 49% from the floor and outrebounded Benedictine 43-41.  It was only the second win for the Regents against the Eagles since joining the Northern Athletics Conference in the fall of 2006.  In order for Rockford complete the regular season series sweep, the Regents will have to improve on their 1-4 road record against the Eagles.
