ROCKFORD, Ill. – Senior guard Britney Curry (Merrillville, Ind./ Merrillville) continued her assault on the Rockford College women’s basketball career record book over the weekend.  Curry hit a baseline jumper with 54 seconds remaining in overtime on Saturday to record the 1,501st point of her Regent career.  The senior became only the 3rd student-athlete in the program’s 40 year history to score 1,500 points.  She also becomes just the second player in school history with 1,500 points and 600 rebounds.  Additionally, Curry now stands alone the only women’s basketball player to score 1,500 points, get 600 rebounds and record 200 assists over the course of her career.

With just a handful of games remaining in the season, Curry has moved into the top ten in every major statistical category.  The senior’s 1,501 points ranks her third all-time, and she needs 85 points over the remainder of the season to pass Heidi Burkhart and move into second place.  Curry is sixth in rebounds with 636 and needs just 18 rebounds to pass Tina Palmieri for fifth.  She is tenth in assists with 213, fourth in steals with 219, fourth in blocks with 69, third in field goals made with 559 and third in free throws made with 352.

Curry has twice received the Northern Athletics Conference Student-Athlete of the Week Honors for her play this season.  The first coming in the opening week of the season when Curry scored 20-plus points in each of the teams three games and was named to the 2011 North Central College Tip-Off All-Tournament Team averaging 21 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocks during the tournament.  The other award came in mid-December when she recorded her best single-game offensive output of the season scoring 30 points at Ashford University.  Curry currently leads the NAC and is 27th in nation in scoring, averaging 18.5 points per game.  She is also 5th in the NAC in rebounding averaging 8.6 rebounds per game, tied for 5th in blocks averaging 1.4 per game and is 9th in steals averaging 2.1 per game.
