ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Regents kept pace in the South Division of the Northern Athletics Conference Tuesday night with their 83-73 win over the Dominican University Stars.  Rockford College opened up on a 16-4 run taking a 12-point lead less than 5 minutes into the game.  The Regents continued to build on their first half lead increasing it multiple times to a game high 18 points.  However, the Stars would close the first half with some momentum as they scored the final 6 points and cut the lead down to 12.  Dominican continued to hang around throughout the second half and chip away at the lead getting it down to just 4 points with 1 minute and 56 seconds remaining.  That would be as close as the Stars would get, as Rockford would score the final 6 points of the game to seal the victory.  The Regents were in control for nearly the entire game, shooting over 50% from the field, outrebounding the Stars 39-29 and leading for all but 1 minute and 14 seconds of the game.  The win keeps Rockford ½ games behind Benedictine University in the South Division with just 3 games remaining.

It was a fairly balanced offensive attack for the Regents as they had 5 players score in double-digits on Tuesday.  Danny Fair (Chicago, Ill./Morgan Park) was outstanding for the Regents recording his second straight double-double and 5th of the season.  The junior shot a blistering 12-17 from the floor and set a new season high in scoring with 29 points.  Fair also corralled 11 rebounds and recorded 3 steals in the Regents win.  Dominique Walker (Chicago, Ill./Morgan Park) and Paul Hall (Des Moines, Iowa/Roosevelt) each had good games for the Regents as well. Walker scored 14 points, grabbed 4 rebounds, dished out 2 assists and had 2 steals.  While Hall added 11 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists.  Junior Keith Conway (Chicago, Ill./Hubbard) and senior Darryl Watkins (Rockford, Ill./Auburn) gave Rockford solid production coming off the bench.  Conway had one of his best games of the year connecting on 5 of his 6 shot attempts from the floor.  The junior scored 11 points, got 4 rebounds, and had 3 steals in the game.  Watkins was a perfect 5 for 5 from the free throw line and tied his season high with 12 points.  The senior also added 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals and 1 block.

After a seven day layoff, the men’s basketball team will return to action next Wednesday, February 8th when they travel to Milwaukee Wis. to play the Milwaukee School of Engineering Raiders.  Rockford College is 13-7 against MSOE but is only 3-5 against the Raiders since joining the Northern Athletics Conference.  The two teams last met on January 17, 2012 when the Regents defeated the Raiders 65-55 at the Seaver Center.
