Curry Joins 500-Rebound Club

ROCKFORD, Ill. – Senior guard Britney Curry (Merrillville, Ind./ Merrillville) etched her name in the Rockford College record books in Wednesday’s epic comeback win against Aurora University. Curry grabbed her 500th career rebound with 10:53 remaining in the first half. She becomes only the 10th player in the programs now 40 year history to record 500 rebounds. Curry also is only the 7th women’s basketball player to score 1,000 points and get 500 rebounds.
The senior captain and four year student-athlete for the Regents has been a crucial part to Rockford College’s success. Curry is currently second in the Northern Athletics Conference in scoring averaging 19.8 points per game and is tied for second in rebounding with 52 rebounds. In addition to her scoring and rebounding Curry also makes an impact on the defensive side of the ball. She is fourth in the NAC with 9 blocks and is tied for 8th with 10 steals.
Currently, Curry sits 10th in Rockford College history with 508 rebounds and 7th in scoring with 1,211 points. In addition, Curry continues to climb up the school’s record books in a handful of other statistical categories. The senior currently ranks 5th with 48 blocked shots and 282 free throws made, she is 7th all-time with 184 steals and 8th all-time with 453 field goals made.
Curry has received postseason recognition by the Northern Athletics Conference each year of her collegiate career. In both her junior and sophomore years Curry was named second team All-Conference by the NAC. As a freshman she was named to the NAC All-Freshman team along with receiving All-NAC Honorable Mention recognition.
