Volleyball Spikes All-NAC Awards

ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Rockford College Volleyball team capped off another strong season earning a berth in the Northern Athletics Conference Tournament for the second consecutive season. For their efforts on the court, three ladies received awards and were recognized by the Northern Athletics Conference. This marks the second consecutive season that volleyball team has had three players received All-NAC awards.
Heather Goodrich (Tinley Park, Ill./Victor J Andrew) received Honorable Mention All-NAC. The senior was second on the team with 205 kills and led the Regents with a .261 hitting percentage. In addition to being a force on the offensive end, Goodrich was also the Regents best defender at the net. The senior led the Regents with 53 of the teams 91 total blocks. She recorded 29 block assists and 23 solo blocks on the season, both of which were also team highs. Goodrich finished the season ranked 7th in the conference in both hitting percentage (.261) and solo blocks (23), and 14th in the NAC in kills per set (2.53).
Laina Scheri (Cortland Ill./DeKalb) received NAC All-Freshman Team honors. Scheri made a huge impact for the Regents this season. The freshman was 3rd on the team in kills with 189, digs with 188, and blocks with 20. Scheri finished 19th in the conference in kills per set averaging 2.33 kills.
Heather Hyland (Belvidere, Ill./Belvidere) was named to the NAC All-Sportsmanship Team. Hyland finished off a very successful sophomore year with 135 kills, 22 service aces, and was second on the team with 205 digs.
Rockford finished the 2011 season with an 8-13 (5-7 NAC) record.
