Volleyball Secures Second Straight NAC Tournament Bid

FOND DU LAC, Wis. – With its win late Friday night over Marian University, the Regents volleyball team secured a sport in the Northern Athletics Conference Tournament for the second straight season. The Regents traveled up to Marian University and defeated the Sabres 3-1. Rockford dropped the first set 25-21 but battled and won an exciting second set 29-27. The Regents never looked back winning both the third and forth sets 25-20. Rockford College improved its record to 8-10 overall and 5-5 in the Northern Athletics Conference. Early Saturday morning Rockford traveled to Lakeland College and lost 3 sets to 1, dropping its record to 8-11 and 5-6 in the NAC. With only one match remaining against the top seeded Dominican University Stars, the Regents look to hold onto the #7 seed in the upcoming conference tournament.
Seniors Heather Goodrich (Tinley Park, Ill./Victor J. Andrew) and Courtney Pehl (Freeport, Ill./Freeport) continue to led the way for Rockford College against Marian University. Goodrich recorded an amazing 21 kills on just 33 attack attempts with only 3 attack errors. That stellar performance resulted in a sparkling .545 hitting percentage. Currently Goodrich ranks 7th in the NAC with a .272 hitting percentage. In addition to her offensive production, she also excelled on the defensive end recording 4 total blocks. Pehl continues to pile up assists for Rockford. She added 47 more assists on Friday bumping her season total up to 624. Pehl is 5th in the NAC with 8.32 assists per set, and she also still leads the NAC averaging 0.57 aces per set.
The Regents volleyball team will be back in action on Wednesday October 26th at 7:00 p.m. against the Dominican University Stars. This will be the final home game of the year and is Senior Night for the ladies as well.
