Cross Country Races Through Tough Conditions

WINNECONNE, Wis. - Not only were there blistering 25 mph winds with 40 mph gusts at times, the Rockford College Running Regents were put to the test of running against premier competition at the Brooks Invitational. The meet, hosted by UW-Oshkosh, consisted of a field of 434 runners including seven of the top 13 teams in the nation.
Senior Victor Reyes (Winthrop Harbor, Ill./Benton Harbor) led the men running a time of 27:29. However, freshman Tim Lydy (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) was not far behind running a personal best time of 28:10. Lydy also finished 2nd among freshman from the Northern Athletic Conference in the meet.
Other notables were Amour Muro (Rockford, Ill./Waterford Kamhlaba) and Bobby Tassone (Sandwich, Ill./Sandwich) both running personal bests in the 8k this season. Muro ran a time of 30:54 and Tassone finished with a time of 35:45.
The men will face the rest of the NAC on October 29th at UW-Parkside for the Northern Athletics Conference Championship.
