Jamie Tworkowski, founder of the To Write Love on Her Arms organization, will speak at Rockford College on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at 7:00 p.m., at the Rockford College Clark Arts Center in Maddox Theatre.

To Write Love on Her Arms is a non-profit organization created to help people struggling with depression, addiction; self-injury and suicide. The organization aims to encourage, inform, inspire and invest directly into treatment and recovery. In 2006, Tworkowski began the To Write Love on Her Arms movement by selling t-shirts to help pay for a friend’s treatment. Since then, people from around the world, including many well known bands and musicians have supported the movement. According to the To Write Love on Her Arms website (, two of three people who struggle with depression never seek treatment and untreated, depression is the leading cause of suicide. In the last four years, the organization has responded to messages from 150,000 people from 40 different countries.

This event is free and open to the public. Tickets are required and can be picked up at the Rockford College Box Office. For more information call 815-226-4100. The Clark Arts Center is accessible.
