Creating Exceptional Boards workshop provides tools to meet growing challenges for nonprofits

Rockford, Ill. – The Northern Illinois Center for Nonprofit Excellence (NICNE) at Rockford College, in partnership with the Rockford Area Affordable Housing coalition and the Neighborhood housing Services of Freeport will host "Creating Exceptional Boards.” This two day workshop will provide local nonprofit board members, volunteers, and staff with the tools necessary to meet the growing challenges within their organizations. The workshop is supported by a grant from NeighborhoodWorks America and will be held November 18-19, 2011 in the Burpee Center on the Rockford College campus.
Workshop’s topics will include: Recruiting Strong Board Members, Principals of Exceptional Governance, Leading in Turbulent Times, and Board Roles & Responsibilities. The keynote address will be given by Vernetta Walker, J.D., director of consulting and a senior governance consultant for BoardSource. Walkers clients include nonprofit organizations like YMCA, Habitat for Humanity and the Concordia University System. Seminar Details: When: Friday, November 18, 2011; 8:00a.m. – 4:00p.m.

Cost: 2-day workshop (includes Friday lunch & Saturday breakfast) $50.00 per person. Saturday only (includes Breakfast), $40.00 per person.
