ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Rockford College Men’s Soccer Team finished off the weekend a perfect 2-0 with a win on Sunday against the Knox College Prairie Fire.  The game was scoreless for much of the first half until Rockford was able to break through in the 31st with a goal to break the scoreless tie.  Rockford wasted little time adding to their lead scoring another goal off of a penalty kick 40th minute.  This gave the Regents a 2-0 advantage which they took into the half.  The Regents added a late insurance goal in the 81st minute to seal the 3-0 victory and improve their record to 3-2 on the season.

Philip Pressgrove (Peachtree City, Ga./ Starrs Mill) was the star of the game again for Rockford.  Pressgrove scored the opening goal of the match and that turned out to be all the Regents would need.  He tacked on another goal shortly thereafter on a penalty kick after a Knox College foul in the box.  Trey Welch (Orlando, Fla./ Cypress Creek) scored his first collegiate goal near the end of the match capping the 3-0 win for Rockford.   The Regents also got great play in goal from Mick Goulding (Midlothian, Wis./ Brenen) to go along with its stellar offense.  Goulding was a perfect 10 for 10 in save opportunities and helped preserve the shutout for Rockford.

Pressgrove currently leads the Northern Athletics Conference in multiple offensive categories.  He leads the NAC in goals scored with 6 and points with 13.

The Regents will return home as part of a soccer doubleheader at the Sports Core Complex in Loves Park, Ill. beginning at 5:30 PM on Saturday September 17th against Lakeland College.
